This helps keep the air in the cab fresh and fume free. “Several states, counties and cities have implemented anti-idling regulations to address issues ranging from environmental concerns to economic costs that are associated with vehicle emissions, and fines could be levied against users in certain states,” said Fred Merritt, CEO of TST. This ensures the oil has sufficient pressure to reach the top of the heads in the engine. The Idle Guard 200 is offered in three models providing engine shut off after 3, 5 or 15 minutes of idling- either via fuel shutoff for a diesel, or by turning the ignition off for a gas engine. Thermex provides an Idle Shutdown Smart Controller that automates empty seat engine shutdown and protects your lift trucks from needless accelerated costs. Its an automatic and even if I put it drive and let it idle it will still shut down. Wedging the pedal down to put my RPM at 1300 wont stop it from shutting down after 15 mins. Releasing the tractor brakes will let it idle 15 mins. Bumping the cruise up to 900 rpm wont keep it idling. Transportation Safety Technologies (TST) has introduced its Idle Guard 200, which it calls a “solid state, reliable timer that automatically prevents unnecessary engine idling in fleet and delivery vehicles.” The device, usable with diesel or gas engines and manual or automatic transmissions, is “triggered” either by a positive or negative signal from the park brake on a manual transmission or the park/neutral switch on an automatic transmission. It will only idle 5 mins if the tractor brake is set. ![]()
